Will Heath Electrical carry out a free survey of my site?
Heath Electrical Services will attend call-outs free of charge but do not provide free surveys. If you require a non-standardised installation, Heath Electrical Services will appoint a Project Manager who will be responsible for a visual inspection at your site prior to works commencing. Your Project Manager will discuss your requirements and advise you how your installation can be implemented.

How can I be sure my installation will meet the required standard?

I've heard about the British Standard 18th Edition. What is this?
This is a publishment that includes all of the recent and latest wiring regulations and every regulation that applies for electricians. This ensures that all work done meets the regulations and is safe and working. I need an electrical contractor who complies with Part P regulations.
Does Heath Electrical use sub-contractors?

How do you charge an electric car at home?
While there will be public car charging points in your local area, to maximise the use of your electric vehicle, it is always recommended to install a unit on your property. The best place to fit a car charging point is nearby to where you usually park your vehicle, meaning it can be charged overnight. Alternatively, an EVSE supply cable can be used for a quick charge via a three-pin plug socket.
What payment methods do you accept?
We ask clients to pay by BACS where possible but credit or debit cards are also accepted payment methods. If you wish to pay by card, you can do so when our engineer is with you, over the phone or online using Paypal.
When will my payment be due?

Can I book services and send the bill to my tenant?
Unfortunately not, the person that books the services is responsible for the payment. If your landlord is responsible for your electricity, then please contact them to arrange for electrical services.
Is the homeowner billed for works completed with another tradesmen?
This is something that we would kindly ask that you discuss with our team. However, generally speaking, Heath Electrical Services is able to complete electrical work in line with other trade works as long as there is no existing pre-work agreement between the team and your client. They will also have to abide by our terms and conditions (Link to page) and ensure that your work is not going to come into dispute with ours.
How much will electrical works cost?
This will fully depend on the service in question and will vary in price depending on the severity and scale of the job. We usually ask clients to pay on a per-hour basis, which is £60 for electricians and £30 for trainees and time and a half for holidays and weekends; however, there are more costs included if need be for materials and travel. Why does the first hour cost more?
The reason the first hour costs slightly more is because it includes the cost of materials, travel and anything else that is required for our team to turn up and complete the job. If you would like to know more about this, then please take a look at our terms and conditions of contact the team.
Should I pay for checks even when nothing is fixed?
If you require our expertise and equipment to check electrical works, then you will be charged a fee for this. This will vary depending on the travel and severity of the task. Please contact the team if you require more information.
Are there discounts for cash?

How long do I have to wait for services?
The waiting time for services will completely depend on the current workload that the team have to work with. We will try our best to call you back as soon as possible, whether this is to arrange an appointment or inform you of how long it may be before a call back. When can work be booked for?
Work can be booked in on weekdays (Monday – Friday) 8-5. If you require work to be completed on holidays or at the weekend, then you will be asked to pay the team time and a half for their services.
Should I try fixing the issue myself first?
Please DO NOT try fixing electricals yourself unless you are a trained professional. It is extremely dangerous to work with electrical wiring and equipment, so please do not fix the issue yourself. We have had cases where clients have tried fixing issues before calling the team, and it has resulted in a larger payment and more time required to fix the mess that has been made.
Can you provide an estimated quote?
Of course, the team will speak with you about what you are looking to achieve, and a quotation will be provided. Should an in-person consultation with a visual inspection be required, this will be arranged to gauge how much the work you need may cost. Please be aware that this price may change depending on whether any changes to the works required arise throughout your electrical project; however, the team will inform you of this before continuing the work.
Can I make changes to my agreed service?
As long as services have not started and you advise the team in due course that you no longer require the service, you will be able to rearrange. However, depending on how long you give the team before the arranged time, you may be required to pay a percentage of the agreed fee.
If I order my materials will it be cheaper?
Depending on the work that needs completing, you may be able to order your own materials. However, we would always advise against this as it is best to use the materials that the team use as they will come at a discounted price as well as being a high grade, which will inevitably last longer.
What are your accreditations?
All Heath Electrical Services team members are certified to complete tasks to a high standard and to a safe measure. We are also NICEIC approved accreditors, so you can be sure to trust our services.
Are you insured to complete electrical work?
Yes, the team are insured to complete electrical work and will take full liability for any issues or injuries that are caused as a result of our work. Please take a look at our terms and conditions for more information.
Can I see certifications?
Upon request, the team are able to send or show clients certificates of qualifications, certifications and accreditations if they require it. Please speak with the team to arrange this if necessary.

How do you install a home car charging point?
The government has implemented an OLEV grant scheme, which provides all electric car drivers with a £500 grant to use towards installation fees. However, to install a home car charging point, you must enlist the expertise of a professional. Here at Heath Electrical Services, teams are fully certified installers and will arrange an initial survey to determine the best placement for your unit. A charging point can be mounted to either an external wall or inside your garage, depending on which option is convenient for you. The complete installation process takes around three hours; however, this may differ based on the complexity of the project.
How often should you charge an electric car at home?
There is no limit on how often you should charge your electric car as it will depend on how often you drive. Many clients opt for getting into the routine of placing their vehicle on charge overnight or when it will be stationary for an extended period of time. Charging overnight is particularly beneficial as it means you can take advantage of off-peak electricity tariffs, saving money. Through putting your car on charge whenever it’s not in use, you will always be prepared for any unplanned journeys.
Can you help position my EV charger?
Yes. Our experienced team can help you to find the perfect location for your EV charger for convenience. For example, the charger can be installed inside the garage for those that keep their vehicle locked away at night, or on the side of the home for those with driveways.
How do I know which EV charger to install?

I work at home, should I get my equipment PAT Tested?
It is every employer’s responsibility to ensure that all work equipment is maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order, and in good repair. Due to this, your employer should have your work equipment regularly inspected to ensure your safety.
